![]() To remove the cartridge, press the lock release lever on the end of the unit and pull it straight out of the machine. In order to remove the drum unit, the toner cartridge must first be removed. The multi purpose bypass tray, side cover, and front cover of the machine must all be opened IN THE ORDER LISTED in order to gain access to the drum unit. When this happens, the copy machine will no longer allow users to make copies. The indicator light will, at some point, begin to blink. ![]() This should give users plenty of time to order a new one, so it is not completely necessary to keep a spare drum unit on hand. ![]() An indicator light will turn on when the machine’s drum counter reaches about 17,000 copies, meaning that the drum can still be used about a thousand more times. After about 18,000 printed copies, the drum unit for this copy machine is no longer useful.
